Editorial

South Korea and Singapore have something in common. Both countries have high GDP per capita. Both countries are modern democracies, and both countries have been occupied by Japan at least once.

Yet, that is not what average Singaporeans associate with South Korea. Most Singaporeans are acquainted with South Korea culture because they are familiar with the food and pop culture. Kimchi. Bibimbap. Soju. K-pop music. Korean drama series.

Although there is no doubt that the food is excellent, and their pop culture has taken the world by storm, there are, in fact, even more interesting things than that. South Korea, unlike Singapore, has four seasons, and if you want to get away from the perenially hot and wet climate here, you could always consider going to one of its many tourist attractions, depending on which part of the year.

We hope that Annyeonghaseyo will not only show you places in South Korea which you've never visited before, food from South Korea you've never tasted before, entertainment news which you've never read before, and many other fascinating aspects of South Korea that will deepen your understanding of the place.

Annyeonghaseyo to you. Hope you enjoy reading through our magazine!
